What to expect
A battery stores the solar you make at midday so you can use it in the evening. If it's wired for it, a battery can also keep the fridge, lights and internet running when the grid drops.
It isn't the right answer for everyone. A battery makes sense if you use most of your power in the evening, want backup in a blackout, or export a lot of solar for very little back. If your bill is already small, something cheaper like a hot water timer may do more. We'll tell you which fits.
We install Tesla Powerwall, a battery that stores your solar, spots a blackout and automatically becomes your home's power source when the grid goes down. Unlike a generator, it keeps the lights on and phones charged without fuel, noise or upkeep.
We'd rather tell you a battery isn't worth it than sell you one.

Straight answers
Questions we get asked about home batteries.
Is there a rebate for batteries?
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program can take money off an eligible battery installed with solar. The rate drops over time and as battery size grows, so we check what applies on the day and show it on your quote. Off-grid systems follow different rules, so ask us.
Will a battery keep my house on in a blackout?
It can, but it depends on the battery, the inverter and how it's wired. Some setups power selected circuits only. We'll tell you what yours will and won't run before you decide.
Can I add a battery to solar I already have?
Usually, but it depends on the inverter you have now. We check it on the site visit and tell you straight if another approach is better.
Do you install Tesla Powerwalls?
Yes. We're a Tesla certified installer and fit Powerwall batteries with new or existing solar.
Do I need a battery at all?
Not always. If most of your power is used in the day, solar alone may be enough. We'd rather tell you that than sell you a battery.
